Approximately 75 minutes flight from Miami, the Turks & Caicos islands cover 193 square miles of Atlantic Ocean. These islands boast the third largest coral reef system in the world and are a perfect destination for visitors in search of pristine stretches of sand and fabulous fishing, snorkling and diving. There are over 40 islands and small cays only eight of which are inhabited. The surrounding crystal clear turquoise waters teem with marine life. Each island has something different to offer, from the main tourist center of Providenciales to the quiet and tranquil islands of North and Middle Caicos and the inhabited cays, Parrot Cay and Pine Cay, privately owned islands which are home to exclusive resorts. INFORMATION ABOUT TURKS & CAICOS
CURRENCY: The US dollar is the official currency of Turks and Caicos. It is augmented by the crown and quarter. Travelers cheques, which can be cashed at local banks, are accepted by most hotels, restaurants and taxi services.
TIME ZONE: Turks and Caicos is on EST and Daylight Savings Time is observed from April to October.
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS: Providenciales (PLS) / Grand Turk (GDT)
CLIMATE: The average temperature ranges between 75 and 85 degrees. From June to October the, the temperature can reach into the 90's, especially in the late summer months. A constant trade wind keeps the climate at a very comfortable level.
ELECTRICITY: Electricity follows the U.S. standard: 120/240 Volts/60 Cycles.
DRIVING LAWS: Anyone with a valid driver's license from their home country may drive on the Islands. Driving is done the British way, on the left side of the road.
