Bellevue Plantation
4 - 8 Bedrooms / 8 Bathrooms
Bellevue Plantation Estate House is located in Waterford, St Michael.
Bellevue Plantation Estate House is a spectacular, remodeled estate house nestled in a secluded clutch of mahogany trees at the end of an unmarked road carefully designed for privacy.
As you arrive you are welcomed by a sense of security and privacy with large imposing gates at the entrance. There is also the cool tranquility of the large trees which provide shade during hot summer days. The sprawling lawns offer an additional space for outdoor activity.
On the Southern side of the property lies lush green vegetation which provides added lustre to the sweeping landscape and spectacular view as the gully makes its way westward-hence the origin of the name which means 'beautiful view'.
Adjacent to Bellevue Estate House is the Belle Plantation House which once hosted members of the British Royal family. The property has a rich history and was constructed during the 18th century between 1735 and 1750.
It was named Anton Hall and was owned by such illustrious persons as the Downings, the Connells and the Collymores and the most recent previous owner Dr. Arno Treeloff.
Remodeling and modernizing of the building have managed to maintain many features of the original Barbadian style. A sweeping dual stairway leading to the large, wrap-around verandah on the second level, provides guests with a spectacular view of the countryside and the magnificent sunsets while sipping cocktails.
As you enter the grounds you will be struck by the grandeur and grace of years gone by. Within the entrance hall and formal living area there are polished wooden floors and a variety of antique pieces.
There is a master suite and three other guest suites on this level. These are all air-conditioned and three of them open onto balconies. On the lower level are two guest suites, a large family room featuring a mosaic design of the island of Barbados and a study room.
There are two large and elegant dining tables ideally suited for entertaining. The formal dining room opens onto the dining terrace. An unusual bar is nestled in a casual eating and lounging patio. This patio overlooks a large pool and deck, surrounded by a luxuriant garden and mature mahogany trees.
A new addition to the property is a cottage on the grounds, providing a further two air-conditioned bedrooms.
